Glossary
PDF — Stands for Portable Document Format. PDF is a file format designed to present documents consistently across multiple devices and platforms. It was developed by Adobe 1992 and has since become one of the most widely used formats for saving and exchanging documents.
A PDF file can store a wide variety of data, including formatted text, vector graphics, and raster images. It also contains page layout information, which defines the location of each item on the page, as well as the size and shape of the pages in the document. This information is all saved in a standard format, so the document looks the same, no matter what device or program is used to open it. For example, if you save a PDF on a Mac, it will appear the same way in Windows, Android, and iOS.
The PDF format also supports metadata, such as the document title, author, subject, and keywords. It can store embedded fonts so you do not need to have the appropriate fonts installed to the view the document correctly. PDF documents may also be encrypted so only authorized users can open them.
A file size is the measure of space a file takes on a storage medium such as a computer hard drive. File sizes can be measured in bytes (B), kilobytes (KB), megabytes (MB), gigabytes (GB), terabytes (TB), and beyond.

Being successful in business means working smarter. The HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479fdn is designed so that you can focus your time on effectively supporting business growth while staying one step ahead of the competition. This printer from the Color LaserJet range is the right choice if you are looking for a versatile printer for small to medium-sized offices. The operation is intuitive and easy to understand. The swiveling 10.6-inch touchscreen, via which the printer can be fully controlled, is particularly handy. As with all current multifunctional devices, the CIS scanner shows small weaknesses when it comes to booking copies. HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479fdn can scan, copy, and fax and has an automatic document feeder that even works on both sides. This makes it much easier to digitize or copy multi-page documents. The printing itself doesn’t exactly create enthusiasm but is sufficient for everyday use. Speed and print quality are at the standard level. There is space for around 300 sheets in the paper compartment. The paper supply therefore rarely needs to be refilled. This HP device was able to convince with its fast first pages after only about 10 seconds from standby and the simple operation via the touch display. A numeric keypad is not integrated. If required and depending on the application, a virtual keypad is displayed on the touchscreen. Color laser multifunction devices are primarily designed to print as many pages as possible quickly and in a way that saves ink. The quality often suffers as a result. Not so with the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479fdn. Both text and photo prints are excellent without any visible blurring or streaking. Especially with the standard settings and fine printing, the LaserJet cannot hold a candle. The same applies to the print speed: At 19.4 pages per minute, the HP is currently at the top of our list of the best. However, the device causes problems with simple copies. The quality is definitely sufficient for everyday office life, but if you look very carefully, the edges of the letters appear blurred. The LaserJet is applying a little too thick ink here. At least the copying times are convincing: after only 10 seconds a black and white copy and after only 13 seconds a graphic copy is in the output tray. You can set up this HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479fdn quickly and easily manage the device settings to improve the printing efficiency. Print files in Microsoft Office format and PDFs directly from your USB drive. Avoid interruptions with an HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP that has been designed and optimized for maximum productivity. The connection options hardly play a role, because the print jobs can come in via USB, LAN, WLAN, or WiFi Direct.
