It serves as a comprehensive guide that covers everything from basic functions, safety features, and technology use to troubleshooting common issues. Familiarizing yourself with the owner manual will enhance your driving experience and ensure you get the most out of your GLA.

Model Overview

The Mercedes-Benz GLA is a compact luxury SUV that elegantly combines performance, style, and versatility. Introduced in 2014, the GLA has evolved through various generations, showcasing an athletic stance with coupe-like contours. It offers a spacious interior, advanced technology, and impressive safety ratings, making it a popular choice for compact SUV enthusiasts. Powered by a range of turbocharged engines, the GLA delivers dynamic handling while balancing power and efficiency. Its advanced infotainment system and a number of high-end materials used in the interior underscore the luxury aspect of the GLA.

Trims

The Mercedes-Benz GLA is offered in several trims, catering to different preferences and needs. The primary trims include the GLA 250, GLA 250 4MATIC, and the sporty AMG variants like the GLA 35 and GLA 45. The GLA 250 serves as an entry point with a well-equipped interior and a host of standard features, while the GLA 250 4MATIC adds all-wheel drive for enhanced performance in diverse conditions. For those seeking a high-performance experience, the AMG trims amp up horsepower, suspension dynamics, and sporty aesthetics. Each trim level showcases unique features and packages to personalize your driving experience further.

Known Problems

While the Mercedes-Benz GLA is generally well-regarded, there are a few known issues that owners should be aware of. Common problems include electrical glitches related to the infotainment system or navigation software, as well as some reports of rattling noises from within the cabin. Additionally, certain early models experienced issues with their transmission that required software updates or, in rare cases, component replacements. Regular maintenance and timely software updates from authorized dealerships can help mitigate these issues.

Maintenance Tips

Keeping your Mercedes-Benz GLA in peak condition requires consistent maintenance. Here are some essential tips: — Regularly check and change the oil as recommended in the owner manual to ensure optimal engine performance. — Monitor tire pressure and tread depth frequently, rotating the tires as necessary to enhance tire life and improve handling. — Follow the recommended service schedule for inspections, air filter replacements, brake checks, and other critical maintenance tasks. — Keep the brake fluid, coolant, and wiper fluid at appropriate levels, and conduct periodic checks for leaks or wear. — Attend to any warning lights on the dashboard immediately, using the owner manual for guidance on what different notifications indicate.

Protecting the environment

General notes

Environmental note

H

Daimler’s declared policy is one of comprehensive environmental protection.

The objectives are for the natural resources
that form the basis of our existence on this
planet to be used sparingly and in a manner
that takes the requirements of both nature
and humanity into account.

You too can help to protect the environment
by operating your vehicle in an environmentally responsible manner.

Fuel consumption and the rate of engine,
transmission, brake and tire wear are affected by these factors:

R

operating conditions of your vehicle

R

your personal driving style

You can influence both factors. You should
bear the following in mind:

Operating conditions:

R

avoid short trips as these increase fuel
consumption.

R

always make sure that the tire pressures
are correct.

R

do not carry any unnecessary weight.

R

remove roof racks once you no longer
need them.

R

a regularly serviced vehicle will contribute
to environmental protection. You should
therefore adhere to the service intervals.

R

always have service work carried out at a
qualified specialist workshop.

Personal driving style:

R

do not depress the accelerator pedal
when starting the engine.

R

do not warm up the engine when the vehicle is stationary.

R

drive carefully and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front.

R

avoid frequent, sudden acceleration and
braking.

R

change gear in good time and use each
gear only up to Ô of its maximum engine
speed.

R

switch off the engine in stationary traffic.

R

keep an eye on the vehicle’s fuel consumption.

Environmental concerns and recommendations

Wherever the Operator’s Manual requires you
to dispose of materials, first try to regenerate
or re-use them. Observe the relevant environmental rules and regulations when disposing
of materials. In this way you will help to protect the environment.

Genuine Mercedes-Benz parts

Environmental note

H

Daimler AG also supplies reconditioned
major assemblies and parts which are of the
same quality as new parts. They are covered
by the same Limited Warranty entitlements
as new parts.

Air bags and Emergency Tensioning Devi-

!

ces, as well as control units and sensors for
these restraint systems, may be installed in
the following areas of your vehicle:

R

doors

R

door pillars

R

door sills

R

seats

R

cockpit

R

instrument cluster

R

center console

Do not install accessories such as audio systems in these areas. Do not carry out
repairs or welding. You could impair the
operating efficiency of the restraint systems.

Have aftermarket accessories installed at a
qualified specialist workshop.

You could jeopardize the operating safety of
your vehicle if you use parts, tires and wheels
as well as accessories relevant to safety which

have not been approved by Mercedes-Benz.
This could lead to malfunctions in safety-relevant systems, e.g. the brake system. Use only
genuine Mercedes-Benz parts or parts of equal
quality. Only use tires, wheels and accessories
that have been specifically approved for your
vehicle.

Genuine Mercedes-Benz parts are subject to
strict quality control. Every part has been specifically developed, manufactured or selected

Operating safety

Declarations of conformity

USA: «The wireless devices of this vehicle

comply with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the two following two conditions: 1) These devices may not cause harmful
interference, and 2) These devices must
accept any interference received, including
interference that may cause undesired operation. Changes or modifications not expressly
approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate
the equipment.»

Canada: «The wireless devices of this vehicle
comply with Industry Canada license-exempt
RSS standard(s). Operation is subject to the
following two conditions: (1) These devices
may not cause interference, and (2) These
devices must accept any interference, including interference that may cause undesired
operation of the device.»

Diagnostic connector

The diagnostics connection is only intended
for the connection of diagnostic equipment at
a qualified specialist workshop.

WARNING

G

If you connect equipment to a diagnostics
connection in the vehicle, it may affect the
operation of vehicle systems. As a result,
the operating safety of the vehicle could be
affected. There is a risk of an accident.

Only connect equipment to a diagnostics
connection in the vehicle, which is approved
for your vehicle by Mercedes-Benz.

WARNING

G

Objects in the driver’s footwell can restrict
the pedal travel or obstruct a depressed
pedal. The operating and road safety of the
vehicle is jeopardized. There is a risk of an
accident.

Make sure that all objects in the vehicle are
stowed correctly, and that they cannot enter
the driver’s footwell. Install the floormats
securely and as specified in order to ensure

sufficient clearance for the pedals. Do not
use loose floormats and do not place floormats on top of one another.

If the engine is switched off and equip-

!

ment on the diagnostics connection is used,
the starter battery may discharge.

Connecting equipment to the diagnostics connection can lead to emissions monitoring
information being reset, for example. This may
lead to the vehicle failing to meet the requirements of the next emissions test during the
main inspection.
