In order to reduce the cost of production Polo on the Russian market (where there are requirements for a high degree of localization of assembly), VAG has resorted to a fairly large-scale unification of the model with the liftback Skoda Rapid. That is why the second-generation Polo has an increased length of the body (79 mm – to 4469 mm), increased wheelbase (by 38 mm – to 2591 mm) and the body of the “liftback” (which provided an increase in volume of the trunk up to 90 liters – to 550 liters).
Distinctive features of this generation of VW is a diode headlamp (in the “base” – reflector type), wide grille, tapering into the block lights, front bumper with plastic decorations in place of fog lights, as well as narrow taillights (now also LED), partly “moved” to the trunk lid. Place for the license plate is now located on the rear bumper.

ШАРОВАЯ ОПОРА
Шаровая опора является элементом передней подвески. Она соединяет поворотный кулак и рычаг передней подвески. Опора состоит из корпуса, пальца и вкладышей. С одного конца палец опоры имеет сферическую форму, а с другого — конусную с резьбовым хвостовиком. Конусной частью палец крепится гайкой к соответствующему отверстию поворотного кулака. Сферическим концом палец установлен во вкладышах корпуса. Соединение защищает резиновый чехол.
В процессе эксплуатации шаровая опора испытывает большие нагрузки, трущиеся поверхности пальца и вкладыша опоры изнашиваются, что приводит к увеличению зазора между корпусом опоры и пальцем. В результате этого палец начинает перемещаться вдоль своей оси, и появляется стук. К интенсивному износу шаровой опоры приведет разрыв защитного чехла, в результате которого грязь и влага, неизбежно попадут внутрь.
Несвоевременная замена опоры может привести разрушению опоры и возникновению аварийной ситуации. Шаровую опору заменяем, если проверка технического состояния передней подвески выявила ее неисправность.
ЗАМЕНА
Для выполнения работы потребуются съемник шаровых опор, домкрат, подставка под автомобиль, противооткатные упоры.
1. Подготавливаем автомобиль к техническому обслуживанию и ремонту.
2. Снимаем переднее колесо.
3. Металлической щеткой очищаем от грязи и ржавчины гайки крепления шаровой опоры и обрабатываем их проникающей смазкой.
4. Ключом на 18 мм ослабляем затяжку и отворачиваем гайку крепления пальца шаровой опоры.
5. Вилочным съемником выпрессовываем палец шаровой опоры из поворотного кулака.
6. Ключом на 16 мм отворачиваем три гайки крепления шаровой опоры к рычагу передней подвески.
7. Отсоединяем шаровую опору от рычага.
Замечание
При установке шаровых опор будьте внимательны! Правая шаровая опора маркируется надписью R4 со стрелкой, соответствующей направлению движения автомобиля, левая шаровая опора — L4 со стрелкой.
8. Устанавливаем детали в обратной последовательности. При необходимости палец шаровой опоры от проворачивания удерживаем ключом TORX Т40.
9. Болты и гайки крепления затягиваем предписанным моментом.
Рекомендация
После выполнения работ, связанных с отсоединением шаровой опоры проверьте и отрегулируйте углы установки колес.
