Suivez cette procédure pour installer un processeur Intel
®

paquet 775-land.
1. Appuyez sur le levier de chargement avec votre pouce (A),
puis déplacez-le vers le gauche (B) jusqu’à ce qu’il soit détaché

Mémoire Système
Vous pouvez installer des modules de mémoire DDR2 non taponnée et non
ECC de 512 Mo, 1 Go, 2 Go ou 4 Go sur les sockets DIMM.
• Pour éviter d’endommager les broches du socle, n’enlevez le
capuchon PnP que si vous installez un processeur.
• Veuillez conserver le capuchon pour le renvoi du produit.
• La garantie du produit ne couvre pas des dommages liés aux
broches du support.
2. Soulevez le levier de chargement en direction de la flèche à un
angle de 135º.
3. Soulevez la plaque de chargement avec votre pouce et votre
index à un angle de 100º, puis poussez le capuchon PnP pour le
faire sortir de la fenêtre de la plaque de chargement.
4. Placez le processeur sur le socle, en vérifiant que le
triangle doré est bien sur le coin inférieur gauche du socle.
Le détrompeur du socle doit s’insérer dans l’encoche du
processeur.
5. Fermez la plaque de chargement, puis poussez le levier de
chargement jusqu’à ce qu’il s’enclenche dans la languette de
retenue.

• En raison de certaines limitations du chipset, pour obtenir une
fréquence mémoire DDR2 supérieure à 800 MhHz, vous pouvez
ajuster manuellement la fréquence DRAM dans le BIOS. Référez-vous
au menu 2.4 Ai Tweaker du manuel pour plus de détails.
• Pour les options de configuration de la fréquence DRAM en relation
avec la fréquence du FSB, consultez la page 2-19 du manuel pour
plus de détails.
• Vous pouvez installer des modules mémoire de tailles variables dans
les canaux mémoire A et B. Le système mappe automatiquement la
mémoire totale du canal de la plus petite taille pour une configuration
double canal. Tout excès de mémoire du canal de plus grande taille
est alors mappé pour un fonctionnement en canal unique.
• Il est recommandé d’installer les modules mémoire sur les slots
jaunes pour obtenir de meilleures capacités d’overclocking.
• Installez toujours des DIMMs avec une latence CAS identique. Pour

• Cette carte mère ne supporte pas les modules mémoire à base de
puces de 256 Mo.
• La fréquence d’opération par défaut de la mémoire dépend de
son module SPD. Par défaut, certains modules mémoire peuvent
fonctionner à une fréquence inférieure à celle annoncée par le
fabricant. Pour fonctionner à la vitesse annoncée par la fabricant ou
à une fréquence plus élevée, consultez la section 2.4 Ai Tweaker
menu pour plus de détails sur l’ajustement manuel de la fréquence
de la mémoire.
• Les modules mémoire (4 DIMMs) peuvent nécessiter un meilleur
refroidissement du système pour rester stable lorsque la charge est
importante ou en mode d’overclocking.

Informations du BIOS
La ROM Flash sur la carte mère contient un BIOS. Vous pouvez mettre à
jour les informations du BIOS ou configurer ses paramètres en utilisant
l’utilitaire de Setup du BIOS. Les écrans BIOS comprennent les clés de
navigation et une courte aide en ligne pour vous guider. Si vous rencontrez
des problèmes liés au système ou si le système devient instable une fois
que vous aurez modifié les paramètres, chargez les Paramètres de Réglage
Par Défaut. Référez-vous au Chapitre 2 du guide utilisateur pour obtenir
plus d’informations détaillées relatives au BIOS. Rendez visite au site web
d’ASUS (www.asus.com) pour obtenir les mises à jour.
Pour accéder au Setup lors du démarrage:
Pressez <Suppr> lors du Test Automatique de Démarrage (POST :
Power-On Self Test ). Si vous ne pressez pas la touche <Suppr>, le POST
continuera son programme de test.
Pour accéder au Setup après le POST:
• Redémarrez le système en pressant <Ctrl> + <Alt> + <Suppr>, puis
pressez <Suppr> lors du POST, ou
• Pressez le bouton de réinitialisation situé sur le châssis puis pressez
<Suppr> lors du POST, ou
• Eteignez et rallumez le système puis pressez <Suppr> lors du POST.
Pour mettre à jour le BIOS avec AFUDOS:
Bootez le système à l’aide d’une disquette qui contient le dernier fichier
BIOS. A l’ouverture de la session DOS, saisissez afudos /i<filename.rom> puis
pressez Entrée. Rebootez le système lorsque la mise à jour sera terminée.
Pour mettre à jour le BIOS avec ASUS EZ Flash 2:
Bootez le système puis pressez <Alt> + <F2> lors du POST pour lancer EZ
Flash 2. Insérez une disquette ou un disque flash USB qui contient le dernier
fichier BIOS. EZ Flash 2 effectuera le processus de mise à jour du BIOS et
rebootera automatiquement le système une fois qu’il aura terminé.
Pour récupérer le BIOS avec CrashFree BIOS 3:
Démarrez le système. Si le BIOS est corrompu, l’outil de récupération
automatique de CrashFree BIOS 3 vous demande d’insérer une disquette,
le CD de support ou un disque flash USB contenant le BIOS d’origine ou sa
dernière mise à jour. Redémarrez le système une fois le BIOS récupéré.

Informations sur le DVD technique
Cette carte mère supporte les systèmes d’exploitation Windows
®
XP/64-
bit XP/Vista/64-bit Vista. Installez toujours la dernière version d’OS et les
mises à jour correspondantes de manière à maximiser les caractéristiques
de votre hardware.
Le DVD technique livré avec la carte mère contient des logiciels et de
nombreux pilotes et utilitaires qui améliorent les fonctions de la carte mère.
Pour utiliser le DVD technique, insérez-le simplement dans votre lecteur
DVD-ROM. si Autorun est activé dans votre ordinateur, le DVD affiche
automatiquement l’écran de bienvenue et les menus d’installation. Si l’écran de
bienvenue n’apparaît pas automatiquement, localisez le fichier ASSETUP.EXE
dans le dossier BIN du DVD technique et double-cliquez dessus.

bitte die PnP-Kappe nicht vor dem Beginn der CPU-Installation.

3.
Arbeitsspeicher
Sie können 512MB, 1GB, 2GB und 4GB ungepufferte nicht-ECC DDR2 DIMMs
in den DIMM-Steckplätzen installieren.
2. Heben Sie den Ladehebel in Pfeilrichtig bis zu einem Winkel von 135
Grad hoch.
3. Heben Sie die Ladeplatte mit dem Daumen und dem Zeigefinger bis zu
einem Winkel von 100 Grad hoch. Drücken Sie die PnP-Kappe von der
Ladeplattenaussparung, um sie zu entfernen.
4. Legen Sie die CPU auf den Sockel. Richten Sie dabei das
goldene Dreieck auf die untere linke Ecke des Sockels aus. Die
Sockelausrichtungsmarkierung muss in die CPU-Kerbe einpassen.
5. Machen Sie die Ladeplatte zu und drücken dann den Ladehebel, bis er
in den Halteriegel einrastet.

• Um Speicherfrequenzen von mehr als DDR2 800 zu erreichen, müssen Sie
manuelle Einstellungen der DRAM-Frequenz im BIOS vornehmen. Details
siehe Abschnitt 2.4 Ai Tweaker-Menü im Handbuch.
• Details zu den DRAM Frequenz-Konfigurationsoptionen im Hinblick
auf die FSB Frequenzeinstellungen finden Sie auf Seite 2-19 des
Handbuchs.
• Sie können in Kanal A und Kanal B verschiedene Speichergrößen
installieren. Das System bildet die gesamte Größe des kleineren
Kanals für die Dual-Channel-Konfiguration ab. Überschüssiger
Speicher des größeren Kanals wird dann für die Single-Channel-
Verwendung abgebildet.
• Für optimale Übertaktungsergebnisse wird empfohlen, die
Speichermodule zuerst in den gelben Steckplätzen zu installieren.
• Installieren Sie immer DIMMs mit gleicher CAS-Latenzzeit. Für
optimale Kompatibilität wird empfohlen, nur Speichermodule eines
Herstellers zu verwenden.Besuchen Sie bitte die ASUS-Website
(www.asus.com) für die Liste der qualifizierten Arbeitsspeicher
(QVL).
• Bei der Installation von 4GB Speicher oder mehr werden unter
Windows 32-Bit-Betriebssystemen u.U. nur 3GB erkannt, daher wird
empfohlen, nicht mehr als 3GB Arbeitsspeicher zu installieren.
• Dieses Motherboard unterstützt keine Speichermodule mit 256 Mb-
Chips.
• Aufgrund von Chipsatzbeschränkungen unterstützt dieses
Motherboard nur bis zu 16GB unter den unten aufgeführten
Betriebssystemen. Sie können maximal 4 GB auf jedem Speicherplatz
installieren.
• Die Standard-Betriebsfrequenz für Arbeitsspeicher hängt von
dessen SPD ab. Im Ausgangszustand arbeiten einige übertaktete
Speichermodule mit einer niedrigeren Frequenz als vom Hersteller
angegeben. Um mit einer höheren Frequenz zu arbeiten, stellen
Sie die Frequenz selbst ein, wie im Abschnitt 2.4 Ai Tweaker-Menü
beschrieben.
• Die Speichermodule benötigen evtl. bei der Übertaktung und bei
der Nutzung unter voller Systemlast (mit vier DIMMs) ein besseres
Kühlsystem.

BIOS-Informationen
Das BIOS ist in einem Flash-ROM auf dem Motherboard gespeichert.
Sie können mit Hilfe des BIOS-Setupprogramms die BIOS-Informationen
aktualisieren oder die Parameter konfigurieren. Auf den BIOS-Seiten finden
Sie Navigationstasten und eine kurze Online-Hilfe. Laden Sie bitte die
Standardwerte (Setup-Defaults), wenn Systemprobleme auftreten oder
das System unstabil geworden ist, nachdem die Einstellungen geändert
wurden. Sehen Sie im Kapitel 2 des Benutzerhandbuchs für ausführende
BIOS-Informationen nach. Besuchen Sie die ASUS-Website (www.asuscom.
de/bios) für die jeweils aktuellste BIOS-Version.
Aufrufen des Setupprogramms beim Starten:
Drücken Sie die Taste <Entf> während des Einschaltselbsttests (POST);
ansonsten setzt der POST seine Testroutinen fort.
Aufrufen des Setupprogramms nach dem POST:
• Starten Sie das System erneut, indem Sie <Strg> + <Alt> + <Entf>
drücken. Drücken Sie anschließend <Entf> während des POST.
• Oder drücken Sie die Reset-Taste am Computergehäuse. Drücken Sie
anschließend <Entf> während des POST.
• Oder schalten Sie das System aus und dann wieder ein. Drücken Sie
anschließend <Entf> während des POST.
Aktualisieren des BIOS mit AFUDOS:
Booten Sie das System von einer Diskette, die die neueste BIOS-Datei
enthält. Tippen Sie in die DOS-Eingabeaufforderung afudos /i<filename.
rom> ein und drücken anschließend die Eingabetaste. Starten Sie das
System neu, nachdem die Aktualisierung vervollständigt wurde.
Aktualisieren des BIOS mit ASUS EZ Flash 2:
Booten Sie das System und drücken Sie während des POST <Alt> + <F2>,
um EZ Flash 2 zu starten. Legen Sie eine Diskette ein oder schließen Sie
ein USB-Laufwerk mit der neusten BIOS-Datei an. EZ Flash 2 führt den
BIOS-Aktualisierungsprozess aus und startet das System nach dessen
Fertigstellung neu.
So stellen Sie das BIOS mit CrashFree BIOS 3 wieder her:
Booten Sie das System. Wenn das BIOS beschädigt ist fordert die
automatische CrashFree BIOS 3-Funktion Sie auf, eine Diskette bzw. CD
einzulegen oder ein USB-Laufwerk mit der originalen oder der neusten
BIOS-Datei anzuschließen. Starten Sie das System nach der BIOS-
Wiederherstellung neu.

Informationen über die Software Support DVD
Das Motherboard unterstützt die Windows

XP/64-bit XP/Vista/64-bit Vista
Betriebssysteme. Verwenden Sie bitte immer die jeweils letzte Version des
Betriebssystems und führen ggf. die notwendigen Aktualisierungen durch,
um die maximale Leistung Ihrer Hardware zu erhalten.
Die dem Motherboard beigefügte Support DVD beinhaltet nützliche Software
und einige Utility-Treiber, die die Funktionen des Motherboards verstärken.
Legen Sie einfach die DVD in Ihr DVD-ROM-Laufwerk ein. Ein Begrüßungsbild,
sowie ein Installationsmenü, erscheinen automatisch, wenn die Autorun-
Funktion in Ihrem System aktiviert ist. Falls das Begrüßungsfenster nicht
automatisch erscheint, klicken Sie bitte doppelt auf die Datei ASSETUP.EXE in
dem BIN-Ordner auf der Support DVD, um das Installationsmenü aufzurufen.

This motherboard supports the latest Intel® Core™ 2 Extreme / Core™ 2 Quad /

Intel® Core™ 2 series processor is one of the most powerful CPUs in the world. This

The Intel® P45 Chipset is the latest chipset designed to support dual-channel
DDR2 800/667 MHz memory architecture, 1333/1066/800 MHz FSB (Front Side

Access technology that signicantly optimizes the use of available memory

C.P.R. (CPU Parameter Recall)
The C.P.R. feature of the motherboard BIOS allows automatic re-setting to the
BIOS default settings in case the system hangs due to overclocking. When the
system hangs due to overclocking, C.P.R. eliminates the need to open the system
chassis and clear the RTC data. Simply shut down and reboot the system, and the
BIOS automatically restores the CPU default setting for each parameter.

2.1 Before you proceed
Take note of the following precautions before you install motherboard components
or change any motherboard settings.
• Unplug the power cord from the wall socket before touching any
component.
• Use a grounded wrist strap or touch a safely grounded object or a metal
object, such as the power supply case, before handling components to
avoid damaging them due to static electricity.
• Hold components by the edges to avoid touching the ICs on them.
• Whenever you uninstall any component, place it on a grounded antistatic
pad or in the bag that came with the component.
• Before you install or remove any component, ensurethat the ATX power
supply is switched off or the power cord is detached from the power
supply. Failure to do so may cause severe damage to the motherboard,
peripherals, and/or components.
Onboard LED
The motherboard comes with a standby power LED. The green LED lights up
to indicate that the system is ON, in sleep mode, or in soft-off mode. This is a
reminder that you should shut down the system and unplug the power cable before
removing or plugging in any motherboard component. The illustration below shows
the location of the onboard LED.

2.2.3 Placement direction
When installing the motherboard, make sure that you place it into the chassis in the
correct orientation. The edge with external ports goes to the rear part of the chassis
as indicated in the image below.
